Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has said that Roma tabled a higher bid for striker Rodrigo Palacio than Inter Milan, but were too late.
Preziosi, who confirmed that Palacio would leave for the San Siro earlier this week, admits that he could have made more from the sale of the forward had he waited a few more hours.
"Roma made a bid €2m higher than Inter's but I had shaken hands with Moratti three hours before," he told Radio Mana Mana.
"He has had three wonderful seasons with us. Inter don't know what a great deal this is. I took [Alberto] Gilardino to form a great attack with Palacio but now what has happened has happened."
Palacio, 30, scored 19 goals in 32 appearances for the Italian side last season.
