Werder Bremen dismiss chances of signing Bryan Ruiz

Werder Bremen general manager Thomas Eichin confirms that the club are no longer in the running to sign Bryan Ruiz.

Werder Bremen general manager Thomas Eichin has dismissed suggestions that the club are on the brink of signing Fulham forward Bryan Ruiz.

Recent reports have claimed that the Costa Rican was close to securing a move to the Bundesliga side, but Bremen's current financial situation means that a deal between the two clubs is very unlikely.

"Actually it's impossible to sign him," Eichin told Kreiszeitung Syke. "The club is determined to keep up with the financial consolidation and get closer to achieving a black zero.

"That is why we are not talking about signing new players, we are just out for further departures."

Ruiz spent the second half of last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven.
