Brentford come from behind to beat Fulham

Brentford score two late goals to come from behind and clinch a 2-1 win over Fulham in the Championship.

Brentford scored twice in the final 10 minutes to come from behind for a 2-1 win over Fulham at Griffin Park in the Championship this evening.

Brentford looked the more likely in the first half, creating the opening chance after a nervous start when Andre Gray looked for Harlee Dean with a cross, only for the ball to be tipped over by Marcus Bettinelli.

The Fulham keeper remained under pressure as Jon Toral sent in another dangerous-looking ball, but Bettinelli claimed it before the hosts could get a shot away, while Toumani Diagouraga was also denied by the stopper.

The visitors almost took the lead in stoppage time just before the break, despite creating few chances in the opening 45 minutes, as Hugo Rodallega headed just wide from a Ross McCormack delivery.

Fulham continued to see more of the ball after the restart, forcing David Button into action when McCormack unleashed a powerful effort from 30 yards out.

The home side were soon back on the attack, but continued to be frustrated by Bettinelli when he booted a low strike from Gray clear.

Just before the hour mark, it was Fulham who opened the scoring as Dean gave the ball away to McCormack before leaving him time to find Rodallega, who coolly slotted the ball in.

Button made a save with just over 10 minutes to play to keep the home side in contention, stopping Rodallega from adding a second when he struck a through-ball from Thomas Eisfeld first time.

The save proved vital as Brentford immediately headed down the other end, led by Stuart Dallas crossing the ball in to an unmarked Dean, who lashed the ball into the top of the net to level the scores.

Rodallega tried to restore Fulham's lead in stoppage time, but he lost his balance as he made the shot, leaving Button with an easy save.

Brentford quickly pushed back down the other end and took the lead for the first time when substitute Jota cut in from the wing before firing a deflected effort past Bettinelli to give the home side the win.

The result moves Brentford up to fourth in the table, while Fulham remain 17th.
