William Kvist: 'I believe in mental coaches'

Fulham midfielder William Kvist believes that his approach to the mental side of the game has made him a better footballer.

Fulham on-loan midfielder William Kvist has admitted that he does a lot of work with mental coaches in order to work on that aspect as well as the physical side of football.

Kvist, who is owned by Stuttgart in Germany, said that he feels that he is ahead of the curve with his approach, because one day there will be much more emphasis on the mental side of the game.

"I think I'm slightly unusual, it has been pointed out," he told the club's official website. "But I think that's where the future of the game is heading. For me, that's where football will evolve, there will be a greater shift towards the mental aspects of the sport.

"I've been working with my mental coach for nine years, that's longer than I've been with my wife! But it's helped with my concentration and motivation, and over the years it's helped with my relationships with teammates.

"It's something that I believe in, and I wouldn't be where I am today without that influence. I'm someone that wants to know exactly why I'm doing something - I have a lot of questions. I want to do all I can to develop both as a player and as a person."

Fulham take on Everton on Sunday as they continue their battle against relegation.
