Max Kruse scores twice as Freiburg see off Borussia Monchengladbach.

Two Max Kruse goals have seen Freiburg beat Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga.

Luuk de Jong had an early chance for the visitors but his header did not have enough power and it was easily cleared.

Freiburg started to get on top of proceedings, with Jan Rosenthal having a shot blocked and Daniel Caligiuri putting a shot wide from an angle.

There was very little further action until 10 minutes into the second half when Patrick Herrmann came inches away from scoring for Monchengladbach but saw his effort come back off the bar.

With 20 minutes left the deadlock was finally broken and it was the hosts who scored it through Max Kruse despite Monchengladbach's dominance.

They wrapped up the points in injury time with Kruse netting his second.
