Cambridge United manager Shaun Derry has admitted that he would like Ryan Ledson to extend his loan stint with the club.
The Everton youngster's current deal with the League Two outfit is due to expire following Saturday's match against Exeter City.
However, Derry has suggested that it would suit all parties if the 18-year-old midfielder remained at the Abbey Stadium.
"It's a situation that we have to look at and we're in real close dialogue, weekly, with Everton," the Cambridge boss told reporters.
"His performances have been at such a level that I think he wants to stay here as well. He's enjoying playing for us.
"We've forged relationships with Everton and if anything's going to take place I'm sure they'd let us know if Ryan Ledson was going to be brought back to Everton. At this moment in time I think both clubs are really happy with the arrangement."
The teenager has made 18 appearances for the U's in all competitions.
