Wigan Athletic striker Arouna Kone undergoes a medical with Everton ahead of a proposed move to the club.

Arouna Kone has undergone a medical with Everton ahead of a proposed move to Goodison Park.

The Daily Mail reports that the Ivorian striker was assessed yesterday with a view to following former manager Roberto Martinez to the club.

It is thought that the 29-year-old, who has also been a target for Newcastle United during this transfer window, will cost around £5m.

Earlier this week, Wigan chairman Dave Whelan said that he expects Kone to complete the move to Everton in the near future.
