Everton are closing in on former Tottenham Hotspur misfit Mounir El Hamdaoui, according to reports in Holland.
El Hamdaoui has fallen out of favour at Ajax and has yet to make an appearance this season, following an argument with manager Frank De Boer.
Birmingham and Fulham were both hoping to sign the Moroccan international, with plenty of interest also coming from Spain, Italy and France. However, De Telegraaf have claimed that it is Everton who are most likely to land him before the end of the January transfer window.
Toffees boss David Moyes is looking to add firepower to his side, with only 22 goals scored in 22 games this season. El Hamdaoui has been a consistent marksman in the Eredivisie, netting 64 goals in the last three seasons.
Dutch-born El Hamdaoui spent a year at White Hart Lane but did not play any competitive football for Spurs during that time.
Everton are reportedly looking to do a deal for around £5m in exchange for the striker.
