Cenk Tosun 'due on Merseyside today'

Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun will apparently arrive on Merseyside today as his transfer to Everton edges nearer.

The 26-year-old has been earmarked by the Toffees as one of their early pieces of business in the transfer window and last week the club thought they had agreed a £25m fee for his services, only for the Turkish side to raise his price by £2m at the 11th hour.

Everton representatives held talks with Besiktas president Fikret Orman in London last night and, according to reports in Turkey, the two sides have now settled on a figure that is closer to the Premier League outfit's initial offer.

The player is now expected to travel to Liverpool with his representative today in order to thrash out personal terms, although this element of the deal is considered a formality and is expected to be concluded in swift order.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce had hoped to have Tosun, who has eight goals in 16 league appearances this term, available for tomorrow night's Merseyside derby in the FA Cup but must have the player registered by 12pm on Friday in order to meet the FA's eligibility deadline.
