Team News: Six changes for Everton

Under-pressure Roberto Martinez makes six changes to his Everton side for the visit of Southampton.

Under-pressure Everton manager Roberto Martinez has made six changes to his side for the visit of Southampton this afternoon.

With one eye on the Merseyside derby in midweek, Martinez drops key players to the bench as he makes sweeping changes to his midfield and attack.

Seamus Coleman, John Stones and Ramiro Funes Mori keep their places in the back four from last week's goalless draw, with Bryan Oviedo coming in for Leighton Baines.

Arouna Kone is expected to lead the line as Mohamed Besic, Kevin Mirallas and Gerard Deulofeu come in, with Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley both passing late fitness tests but dropping to the bench and Aaron Lennon missing out with a knock.

James McCarthy is suspended after his red against the Eagles and Gareth Barry is also out, with Leon Osman and Darron Gibson coming into the fold, the former being named captain as he makes his 350th Premier League appearance.

On the bench, there are inclusions for 17-year-old midfielder Tom Davies and 18-year-old defender Callum Connolly.

For the visiting Saints, Ronald Koeman names an unchanged XI from the side that defeated Newcastle United last time out, with Graziano Pelle continuing to lead the line with support from Shane Long, Sadio Mane and Dusan Tadic.

Everton: Robles; Oviedo, Stones, Funes Mori, Coleman; Osman, Gibson; Besic, Mirallas, Deulofeu; Kone
Subs: Howard, Lukaku, Niasse, Barkley, Pienaar, Connolly, Davies

Southampton: Forster; Martina, Fonte, Van Dijk, Bertrand; Wanyama, Clasie; Long, Mane, Tadic; Pelle
Subs: Stekelenburg, Cedric, Yoshida, Davis, Rodriguez, Romeu, Ward-Prowse
