Roberto Martinez: 'We will make Everton fans proud'

Everton manager Roberto Martinez vows to make the fans proud over the closing months of the season, despite their current unrest over the club's home form.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has vowed to make the club's fans proud between now and the end of the season.

The Toffees made it six league games without a victory by drawing 1-1 with Southampton at Goodison Park this afternoon, and sections of the home support once again unfurled banners calling for Martinez to resign.

The Spaniard said after the match that he understood the fans' frustrations, but is confident that he can get them back on side over the closing weeks of the Premier League season, with an FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United also to look forward to.

"We have a really good opportunity to take advantage of where we are," Martinez told reporters.

"We are competing in the semi-final and we have games where we want to make fans proud. That is what we are going to do from now until the end of the season, make sure they are proud of our performances and results."

Only Aston Villa have picked up fewer points at home in the Premier League than Everton this season.
