Everton manager Roberto Martinez is ready to select veteran Tony Hibbert as his right-back to face Manchester United for their encounter on Sunday.
The Toffees' first-choice right-back Seamus Coleman is unlikely to feature due to a hamstring injury, paving the way for the experienced 33-year-old to step in.
Hibbert will face an attacking line of Robin Van Persie, Radamel Falcao and Angel di Maria as Louis van Gaal looks to overload the Toffees defence with his attacking options.
"For him to be able to play the games he has against different types of opposition, tricky wingers with different ways of playing, he has done very well," Martinez told reporters.
"That's why it's so important this season to have a strong squad. You need reliable characters like him.
"I'd have no concerns about using him at Old Trafford."
Wayne Rooney will miss the chance to play his former club, as he starts his three-match ban after picking up a straight red card for lashing out at West Ham's Stewart Downing last weekend.
