Everton manager Roberto Martinez has insisted that the club will need to embark on a summer shopping spree in the transfer window should they qualify for Europe.
The Toffees boss has maintained that the club's main priority is to finish in either a Europa or Champions League spot by the end of the campaign.
However, the Spaniard is under no illusions that he has the strength and depth in his squad to cope with the demands of European competition.
"Europe is obviously an aim we need to fight for," the Liverpool Echo quotes Martinez as saying. "To be able to compete in Europe would stretch us massively in terms of the squad. 100% we'd need to increase the size of our squad.
"Europe has different demands and that has to be reflected in the numbers you have in the squad and the type of player you bring in too. Sometimes you need to bring in experienced players at an international level."
The Merseyside outfit are currently sixth in the Premier League table.
