Everton's Roberto Martinez: 'Leighton Baines will travel to USA'

Everton manager Roberto Martinez confirms that Leighton Baines will be part of his squad for this week's tour of the US.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has declared that Leighton Baines is fit enough to join the club's pre-season tour of the United States this week.

Baines has been struggling with a hip problem, which saw the full-back miss yesterday's 3-1 win over Blackburn Rovers as a precaution.

Martinez told Sky Sports News: "I don't think he's going to be out too long.

"He's going to travel with the team, so if I thought he didn't have a chance to participate in the games in the USA then it wouldn't be right for him to travel.

"At the moment, bearing in mind he recovers quite quickly, it was just a precaution we took with him toady. We hope that Leighton can be fully fit very, very soon."

The Toffees will contest the International Champions Cup across the pond, starting with a match against Juventus in San Francisco on Wednesday.
