Everton's Tom Cleverley in contention to face Arsenal

Everton boss Roberto Martinez confirms that Tom Cleverley could be fit in time to face Arsenal on Saturday.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has said that Tom Cleverley could be fit enough to face Arsenal on Saturday.

The midfielder featured for the first time since sustaining an ankle injury in August when he played 60 minutes of an Under-21 game on Tuesday.

When asked if Cleverley could return in time to play against the Gunners, Martinez told reporters: "It is just a case of seeing how he reacts from the game on Tuesday.

"The next two sessions are going to be very important to measure that. I would say, from a medical point of view, 100% he will be ready, but it is just trying to guess and work on his match fitness more than anything."

Cleverley, who was a summer signing from Manchester United, has played five times for Everton this season.
