Half-Time Report: Everton, West Ham United locked in FA Cup stalemate at Goodison Park

It remains goalless at the break between Everton and West Ham as both sides look for a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup at Goodison Park.

Neither side could break the deadlock in the first half of the FA Cup third-round clash between Everton and West Ham United at Goodison Park this evening.

The visitors almost gifted the Toffees a goal after 13 minutes when Adrian failed to hold a Romelu Lukaku effort, but the keeper redeemed himself by thwarting Kevin Mirallas on the rebound.

West Ham came close themselves just a minute later as Stewart Downing led a counter-attack before letting fly from range, forcing Joel Robles to tip his effort over the bar.

Another West Ham error gifted Everton a sight of goal midway through the half as Barry picked up a loose pass before sliding the ball to Mirallas, but this time Winston Reid was the man to deny the Belgian with a good block.

His compatriot Lukaku then threatened the opening goal with 20 minutes to go until half time, but he could only drag an effort wide of the far post having burst into the box.

The Hammers had their best opening of the half just two minutes before the break when Morgan Amalfitano collected the ball inside the box, but could only blaze his effort over.

Lukaku stung the palms of Adrian once more late on, but neither side could find the breakthrough as they went into the break all square.
