David Beckham confident England can advance

Former England captain David Beckham is confident that the Three Lions have enough quality to advance from Group D and into the latter stages of the World Cup.

Former England captain David Beckham has expressed his belief that Roy Hodgson's side will reach the latter stages of the World Cup.

The Three Lions have been drawn against Italy and Uruguay along with Costa Rica in Group D, but the 39-year-old is adamant that there is enough quality in the squad to see them through to the last 16 at the very least.

Beckham told ITV Sport: "It's a young team and it is fresh. The players are all in great form and all of them have had good seasons for their clubs.

"They are all playing in the best league in the world and the toughest league in the world. Young kids are nerve-free. Of course they can advance."

England face Italy in their World Cup opener next Saturday.
