Steven Taylor has said that he hopes that his recent form is good enough to earn him a place in the England squad.
The defender has been linked with a call-up by coach Roy Hodgson following his recent performances for Newcastle United.
The 27-year-old told The Sun: "It's flattering to hear people talk about me and England. It's amazing because of the amount of times I've tried to get in the squad.
"Even last season I tried and it didn't happen but I must keep plugging away with Newcastle and maintain my form. I hope with the help of my teammates it'll get me there.
"I feel more consistent. I started well last season and have taken off in the current campaign. I got injured against Chelsea but since coming back I've been in great shape. If I stay injury free I'll keep my fingers crossed."
Taylor was an unused substitute during his last inclusion in an England squad for a friendly against Germany in 2007.
