Scott Parker has said that he was proud to lead England out against Holland last night, despite their eventual defeat.
The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, who was a surprise choice to take the captain's armband, admits to dreaming of leading the side out since childhood, but never thought he would have the chance.
"It was special, a proud moment for me and something, as a kid, I dreamed of," he said.
"I could probably speak for every boy and every young lad that has the same ambition.
"I never thought it would happen to me, to be honest, so I'm delighted."
Parker becomes the first Spurs player to lead England out since Sol Campbell in November 1998.
