Roy Hodgson: James Ward-Prowse has "interesting future"

England boss Roy Hodgson feels that Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse could have an "interesting future" with the Three Lions.

England boss Roy Hodgson has admitted that he is pleased with the progress he is seeing from Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse and Burnley striker Danny Ings.

The duo have impressed for the England Under-21 side under Gareth Southgate, and Hodgson believes that the Saints man could have a future as the deep-lying midfielder in his team.

The 67-year-old also said that he is delighted with the level of Ings's performances for Southgate's men as well as in the Premier League with the Clarets.

He told reporters: "Ward-Prowse is a player we think has got an interesting future in that position. He's injured but I don't believe I'm going to be stuck for choice.

"I saw Danny play very well for the Under-21s the other day. So I'm hoping the competition is going to get stronger and stronger."

England face off against Scotland in their friendly clash at Celtic Park on Sunday.
