The Football Association states that England captain Steven Gerrard is under greater scrutiny than his national teammates in a 16-page code of conduct book.

The Football Association's code of conduct has revealed that England captain Steven Gerrard has a bigger responsibility of behaving on and off the field than his national teammates.

The English governing body have released the 16-page rule book, which also states that the team must not have an alcoholic drink unless given permission by manager Roy Hodgson and that they are not allowed to order room service or spend too much time playing video games.

The book states: "Players representing England are ambassadors for their country and are role models for younger players.

"The highest standards of conduct and behaviour are therefore expected at all times, including when players are not on international duty."

"The position of England captaincy is a privileged position which carries with it the additional expectations and responsibility (both on and off the field)."

The code of conduct has also warned players against abusing people on Twitter following Ashley Cole's blast at the FA via the social network site.
