FA won't go ahead with commissions proposal of Premier League 'B teams'

FA chairman Greg Dyke confirms that plans to introduce Premier League 'B teams' is unlikely to go ahead.

FA chairman Greg Dyke has confirmed that the Premier League 'B teams' proposal from his commission will not go ahead in the initial format put forward.

Back in May, the commission introduced plans to install a new division beneath League Two containing teams of the Premier League's younger generation.

The proposal was made in a bid to improve the development of English football amid the commission's concerns that there is not enough homegrown talent competing at the top level.

Today, Dyke confirmed to Sky Sports News that the 'B league' format is unlikely to go ahead due to the opposing views of some clubs in the Football League.

In the second instalment of Dyke's commission, it has been proposed that by 2020, football hubs will be located in 30 cities in a bid to increase access to high quality artificial pitches in urban areas.

They also hope to improve grassroots football by sealing a 50% rise in 3G pitches across England to 1,000.
