Greg Dyke sets World Cup target for England

New FA chairman Greg Dyke wants England to win the 2022 World Cup.

New Football Association chairman Greg Dyke has set England the target of winning the 2022 World Cup.

The former BBC director general also wants the team to reach the semi-finals of the 2020 European Championship as he looks to shake up English football at all levels.

"Without targets what are we working towards? No doubt some will say 'these targets will burden the players with more pressure'. I don't see it in that way," Dyke told reporters.

"Top players must be able to handle pressure if they want to be winners. We want to be winners."

England last reached the semi-finals of a major tournament in 1996.
