Aston Villa striker Darren Bent hopes to be recalled up to the England squad later this month after scoring in the draw with West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.
The 28-year-old has endured a disappointing start to the season but came off the bench to earn the Villans a 1-1 draw against the Baggies at Villa Park.
Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson was in the stands during the game, and Bent is hoping that he caught the eye of his international chief.
"I didn't know he was here but hopefully the goal will give me a boost and I'll be in his plans," Bent said.
"I feel I'm going in the right direction as far as goals are concerned.
"I just wanted to get on the pitch and show I can score goals if given the chances."
England face San Marino and Poland in World Cup qualifying matches later this month.
