James Milner predicts that young players in England's Euro 2012 squad will benefit from not being present during past disappointments.

James Milner has noted that the young players in England's Euro 2012 squad will benefit from not having failed at previous international tournaments.

Roy Hodgson named a squad which includes a number of players that have not represented England in a tournament, but Milner believes that this could be a blessing in disguise.

The Manchester City midfielder said: "I think there is a different feel around the squad than before.

"Maybe the squad had a lot of players in it who had been to major tournaments before and maybe had the expectations and the disappointments.

"Now the younger players are going into it fresh and don't have those negative thoughts or memories in their heads."

Only 11 members of England's squad for Euro 2012 travelled to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup.
