Darren Bent says he no longer feels 'on trial' at England, and hopes to win a spot in the Euro 2012 squad.

Darren Bent has said that he feels more settled in the England squad after helping the team to a 1-0 victory over World Champions Spain on Saturday.

The Aston Villa striker admits that he has felt 'on trial' for England in the past, but now hopes that he can clinch a spot in the England squad for Euro 2012.

"When you're in and out of the squad, or not in it so often, you feel as if every game is a trial," Bent said.

"I'm more relaxed now because I've played more games consistently. I just hope that continues. It gives me massive belief. There's a long old way yet to the Euros, so I'll have to keep playing well when I get picked and doing well for my club side, but I'll take great confidence from this.

"We've played the best team in the world and we've gone out there and beaten them. Everyone's delighted.

"It's given me confidence the fact that the manager has played me so often since the World Cup. I just hope that can now continue."

Bent could make way for Fulham striker Bobby Zamora when England face Sweden at Wembley on Tuesday.
