Eintracht Frankfurt maintain impressive start to Bundesliga

Goals from Karim Matmour, Sebastian Jung and Alexander Meier see Eintracht Frankfurt defeat Hannover 3-1 at home in the Bundesliga.

Eintracht Frankfurt remain five points behind Bayern Munich in second place in the Bundesliga with a 3-1 victory over Hannover at home.

The hosts broke the deadlock after just five minutes when Karim Matmour headed home Bastian Oczipka's cross from just yards out.

It became 2-0 to Frankfurt in the 18th minute, as Sebastian Jung shot home from the right side of the Hannover penalty box after being released by Stefan Aigner.

However, the visitors could have halved the deficit on the half-hour mark had Mohammed Abdellaoue's header from a Steven Cherundolo cross been on target.

Hannover created another chance in the 38th minute when Szabolcs Huszti delivered in a good ball, but Didier Ya Konan's header went wide.

The visitors did pull one back and the goal came in the 43rd minute, Abdellaoue slotting home Lars Stindl's cross.

However, that did not spur any comeback for Hannover, as Alexander Meier wrapped up the points for the hosts seven minutes from time with a header.
