Steve McClaren: 'I'm not leaving Derby County'

Derby County boss Steve McClaren insists that he does not want to leave the club amid reported interest from Newcastle United.

Derby County boss Steve McClaren has again insisted that he has no intention of leaving the club.

The former England coach has been linked with the managerial vacancy at Newcastle United following Alan Pardew's recent move to Crystal Palace.

However, McClaren has reiterated that he wants to stay at Derby and push the Championship club towards the Premier League.

"I have got a job to do here. I don't want to let people down here. You've got to show loyalty," the 53-year-old told the Derby Telegraph.

"Derby have given me a great opportunity. They have backed me, and [the chairman] and the owners have been fantastic. We have asked players to commit to long contracts to take Derby forward, and the staff as well. We are building here and I want to see the job through. I love it here."

Derby are currently in third place in the Championship table, three points adrift of leaders Bournemouth.
