Deportivo held by Real Sociedad

Deportivo La Coruna and Real Sociedad draw their opening La Liga match at the Riazor Stadium.

Deportivo La Coruna have opened their La Liga season with a goalless draw against Real Sociedad at the Riazor Stadium.

Faycal Fajr and Cani were off target for Deportivo with long-range efforts in the opening period of the game, before Jonathas nearly gave Sociedad the lead when he met Joseba Zaldua's cross.

Jonathas came close again when he forced Deportivo goalkeeper German Lux into a smart save.

Both sides pressed for a winner late on, with Lucas Perez having his effort saved by Geronimo Rulli.

Carlos Vela also tried to breach the Galicians backline, but Depor were able to see out the danger from the Mexican forward as they secured an opening-day draw.
