Luke Murphy to pen new Crewe Alexandra deal?

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis believes that Luke Murphy is close to committing his future to the club.

Murphy, 22, was handed the captaincy at the club this season and is reportedly close to agreeing a new two-year extension at Gresty Road.

"I've spoken to Luke and his agent and that one is obviously on-going. The chairman was away last week so I expect something to happen at the beginning of this week. There's just one or two things to sort out but we're not far away," he told Sky Sports News.

Murphy has made 135 appearances for Crewe.
