Cordoba remain without a win in La Liga this season having fallen to a 2-1 defeat to Malaga at Nuevo Arcangel.
The visiting side were ahead with a little over 20 minutes on the clock as Garcia Samuel latched onto Ignacio Camacho's lofted pass to fire the ball beyond Juan Carlos.
Nordin Amrabat doubled Malaga's advantage on the half-hour mark, converting from the penalty spot after Carlos felled an opposition player inside the box.
Malaga continued to press forward in search for a third goal, with Vitorino Antunes blowing a golden opportunity to find one by failing to get the better of the Cordoba stopper when he pounced on a rebound.
Silva Lopez came close to pulling a goal back for Albert Ferrer's charges with a long-range effort which went narrowly wide and, although Nabil Ghilas did eventually manage to find a way through at the death with his right-foot shot, it was not enough as Malaga held out for all three points.
Javi Garcia's side climb up to seventh place in the table, while Cordoba remain in the division's bottom three.
