Colchester United have re-signed Chelsea goalkeeper Sam Walker on a six-month loan deal.

The 21-year-old spent four months on loan at the Weston Homes Community Stadium last season, making 19 appearances.

"Sam did extremely well for us when he was here last time around and he was someone we wanted back for the new season," Colchester manager Joe Dunne told the club's official website.

"We have great competition for places now in goal - they will push each other and bring the best out of each other."

Walker kept seven clean sheets for the U's last season.
