A Nick Powell wonderstrike helps earn Crewe Alexandra a return to League One with a 2-0 win over Cheltenham Town at Wembley Stadium.

Crewe Alexandra have been promoted to third tier of English football after beating Cheltenham Town in the League Two play-off final at a scorching Wembley Stadium.

Hot prospect Nick Powell opened the scoring for the Cheshire side on 15 minutes with an incredible flick and volley from 25 yards.

Cheltenham responded excellently but failed to find an equaliser and, after Jeff Goulding had rattled the crossbar and Kaid Mohamed had seen his shot blocked on the line, Byron Moore sealed the 2-0 win eight minutes from time.

Crewe will now play in League One for the first time in four years next season.
