Rumoured Liverpool and Chelsea target Timo Werner reportedly has a £51m release clause in his current contract at RB Leipzig.

RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner would reportedly cost £51m to prise away from the Bundesliga title contenders this summer.

The 23-year-old has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Leipzig in recent transfer windows but looks increasingly likely to leave at the end of this season, regardless of whether his side win their first ever German title.

Liverpool are thought to be the front-runners for his signature, and the Daily Mail reports that Werner's contract, which runs until 2023, contains a £51m release clause.

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly looking at attacking reinforcements ahead of the 2020-21 campaign due to the fact that both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are expected to miss time during the Africa Cup of Nations, while Roberto Firmino is likely to be part of the Brazil squad at the Copa America this summer.

Bayern Munich and Chelsea are also understood to be in the running, though, with the latter keen to bolster their attacking options having failed to make a single signing in the past two transfer windows.

Werner has scored 25 goals and laid on 10 assists in 30 games across all competitions this season, including 20 goals and six assists in just 21 Bundesliga outings.
