Aston Villa are said to be willing to offer John Terry a new contract which includes a clause allowing him to sit out of matches against Chelsea.

Aston Villa defender John Terry will reportedly enter a new contract with the team if they secure a place in next season's Premier League, providing the deal includes a clause which allows him to sit out of matches against former club Chelsea.

The Villans face Fulham in the Championship playoff final on Saturday, and according to The Telegraph, the former England international will consider extending his stay with them if they defeat the Whites and book a return to the top flight.

Villa are said to be readying a 12-month contract extension for Terry, but the 36-year-old is reportedly reluctant to turn out against his former club.

Manager Steve Bruce, however, is allegedly prepared to respect the player's wishes and allow him to opt out of both league games against the Blues, should Villa end their two-year exile from the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Terry's fellow Villa defender Alan Hutton is expected to enter contract talks with the club regardless of the outcome of the Fulham clash.
