Jose Gimenez, who has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester City, insists that he will not be leaving Atletico Madrid this summer.

Atletico Madrid centre-back Jose Gimenez has insisted that he will not be leaving the La Liga champions during this summer's transfer window.

The Uruguay international, who made 26 appearances for Diego Simeone's side during the 2020-21 campaign, has recently been linked with both Chelsea and Manchester City.

The 26-year-old only has little over two years left to run on his contract at Wanda Metropolitano, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future.

However, the centre-back has ruled out a move away from the Spanish capital in the upcoming market.

"I'm not leaving Atletico Madrid this summer. I've no doubt, I'm staying." Gimenez told Carrusel.

The South American, who suffered with coronavirus and a number of injury problems during the 2020-21 season, has made 217 appearances for the Red and Whites since arriving from Danubio in 2013.
