David Luiz's agent has revealed that the Chelsea defender wants to stay at Stamford Bridge beyond the end of the season.
Reports earlier this month implied that the Blues are looking to offload both Luiz and Gary Cahill as part of a summer reshuffle.
The 31-year-old fell out of favour in Antonio Conte's final campaign at the helm, but he has already been used 21 times by Maurizio Sarri in the Premier League this season.
Despite Chelsea's reluctance to offer players over the age of 30 anything more than a one-year contract, Luiz's agent Kia Joorabchian has suggested that talks over a new deal are ongoing.
"Contrary to some reports we are in a very amicable situation with Chelsea," Joorabchian told The Sun.
"We are trying to work out a deal for David Luiz because he wants to stay, the manager wants him to stay and so does the club. I'm sure something will be worked out."
Benfica are rumoured to be weighing up a bid for Luiz, who spent four years with the Portuguese club before joining Chelsea for the first time in 2011.
