Chelsea midfielder Kevin de Bruyne is close to completing a move to Wolfsburg, according to the Bundesliga club's director of sport.

The Belgian international has been linked with a move away from the Blues having started just two times under Jose Mourinho this season.

The Daily Star quotes Wolfsburg's Klaus Allofs as saying: "It's not that we can confirm the deal just yet, but we are no longer so far apart from Chelsea that we can't bridge the differences."

De Bruyne has spent two years at the Stamford Bridge club but has made just three appearances, having been sent on loan to Genk and Werder Bremen during that period.
