Conor Gallagher is handed his first competitive start for Chelsea in Sunday's Premier League fixture against Leeds United.

Conor Gallagher has been handed his first competitive start for Chelsea in Sunday's Premier League fixture against Leeds United.

The England has been restricted to substitute appearances during the opening two matches against Everton and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.

However, as a result of N'Golo Kante's and Mateo Kovacic's hamstring and knee injuries respectively, the academy graduate will feature alongside Jorginho at Elland Road.

Thomas Tuchel had the option to use Ruben Loftus-Cheek instead of Gallagher, but the versatile Englishman remains at right wing-back with Reece James playing in the back three.

Marc Cucurella has retained his spot on the opposite flank to Loftus-Cheek, while the front three of Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz remains the same.

Despite having previously not being given a squad number, Ethan Ampadu is selected on the substitutes' bench for the first time this season.

Meanwhile, former Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford misses out for Leeds as he nurses a minor groin injury.
