Former Chelsea assistant Ray Wilkins has admitted that Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas must be given time to prove his worth.
Reports on Friday had seemed to suggest that Fabio Capello could be given a chance to take over at Stamford Bridge, should Villas-Boas lose his post after a difficult season thus far.
Wilkins, however, who was sacked as assistant boss in 2010, believes that the former Porto boss needs time to impose himself.
"Roman Abramovich needs to give him a year to see where he's going. There's been a lot of transition at Chelsea and I think AVB deserves the opportunity to at least stay until the end of the season," Wilkins told talkSPORT.
Chelsea travel to Everton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
