Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has paid tribute to Daniel Sturridge after the striker scored twice in his side’s 3-1 friendly victory over Rangers at Ibrox.
Nikica Jelavic gave the home side a first-half lead before the former Manchester City player struck twice. The win was secured by a Florent Malouda strike.
“I think Daniel has been a key part in this pre-season,” Villas-Boas said in the post-match press conference.
“This is nothing new to us because we have seen this at Bolton and he deserves this chance. He has shown his qualities.”
Sturridge scored eight goals in 12 games for the Wanderers last season.
