Fernando Torres fit for Stoke match

Fernando Torres is declared fit for Chelsea's opening match in the Premier League against Stoke on Sunday.

Chelsea's Fernando Torres has recovered from concussion in time for the Blues' opening Premier League match with Stoke.

The 27-year-old, who suffered concussion during Spain's 2-1 defeat to Italy on Wednesday, had been a doubt for this weekend's match at the Britannia Stadium.

However, Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has declared that the striker is fit to take his place in the team on Sunday.

"Yesterday [Thursday] he still couldn't remember a couple of things from the game and from before the game [against Italy] but he was back in training and is up for selection," said Villas-Boas.

"We are favouring a 4-3-3 formation in our beginning, that's what we have been playing in pre-season, and we have a couple of players threatening for that central striker's position."

Torres scored one goal in eighteen matches for Chelsea last season following his £50m move from Liverpool in January.
