The Football Association charge Liverpool's Luis Suarez with violent conduct.

The Football Association have charged Liverpool striker Luis Suarez with violent conduct.

The charge relates to an incident which occurred during Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Sunday when the Uruguayan appeared to bite Blues defender Branislav Ivanovic in the second half.

The incident was not seen by the match officials and was therefore reviewed by the governing body this afternoon.

Suarez, who later apologised for his conduct, is expected to face a long-term ban with the normal punishment of three matches seemingly deemed insufficient.

Suarez has until Tuesday to respond to the charge.
