Merseyside Police confirm that they will not take action against Luis Suarez following complaints surrounding his bite on Branislav Ivanovic.

Merseyside Police have confirmed that Liverpool striker Luis Suarez will not face any criminal action for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

The centre-back was visited by the authorities after they received complaints from the public following the incident, which occurred during Liverpool's 2-2 draw with the Blues yesterday.

A statement said: "Merseyside Police can confirm that following an incident at the Liverpool vs. Chelsea game yesterday (Sunday, 21 April 2013) officers have spoken to Branislav Ivanovic in person.

"He had no apparent physical injuries and did not wish to make a complaint. This is now a matter for the Football Association."

Liverpool have insisted that they want the controversial forward to stay at the club beyond the summer.
