Maurizio Sarri: 'Chelsea only need one more player'

Maurizio Sarri believes that Chelsea need to add just one more player to their ranks before the closure of the transfer window.

Maurizio Sarri has claimed that Chelsea only need to add one more player to their ranks before the closure of the transfer window.

The Blues have made two signings so far this summer in the shape of Italy midfielder Jorginho from Napoli and former England goalkeeper Robert Green on a free transfer.

Sarri is pleased with his current squad so far, however, and thinks that just one more recruit will be enough to head into the new Premier League campaign.

"I talked with the club about the market but only one or maybe two times, no more. I spoke about positions and characteristics but no names," Sarri told reporters on Friday.

"So I don't know. I think we need something, but maybe only one player. We have very good midfielders, but maybe a midfielder with different characteristics."

Chelsea take on Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday before kicking off their domestic campaign on Saturday, August 11 at Huddersfield Town.
