New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is reportedly interested in buying Chelsea from Roman Abramovich.

The owner of the New York Jets Woody Johnson is reportedly interested in buying Chelsea from Roman Abramovich.

After 19 years and 21 trophies in the English capital, Abramovich announced his intention to sell the club last week following Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the threat of sanctions on oligarchs.

Abramovich is reported to have put a £3bn asking price on the club, with as many as 10 parties supposedly interested in taking over the European champions.

According to ESPN, Johnson - who served as the USA's ambassador to the United Kingdom for four years until 2021 - is now considering a bid for the Blues.

The report adds that the 74-year-old is "very knowledgeable" of Chelsea following his years in London, and he has already touched base with Raine Group to start preparing an offer.

Abramovich has reportedly laid out two demands of prospective buyers ahead of his expected departure from Chelsea.
