Jose Mourinho: 'Eden Hazard doesn't sacrifice himself for teammates'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insists that winger Eden Hazard isn't a player who is willing to sacrifice himself for his teammates.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has hinted that he is unhappy with Eden Hazard's efforts to help the team's defenders.

Hazard was at fault for two of the three goals that Chelsea conceded against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night, but the Belgian insisted after the match that too much responsibility was being given to him by Mourinho.

However, Mourinho has brushed off the winger's comments by admitting that he doesn't expect a player of Hazard's mentality to always help out his side's full-backs when they are under pressure.

The 51-year-old told reporters: "The media was reporting that he was being critical, but there's nothing critical in what he says. Eden is a player who is not mentally ready to look back to his left-back and leave his life for him.

"When the comment come from a player like Eden, it's normal because he's not a player ready to sacrifice himself 100% for the team and his teammates. And the comments weren't critical. I'm not happy. I speak all season and I try to improve him all season."

Hazard has enjoyed a superb campaign at Stamford Bridge, scoring 17 times in 47 appearances.
