Jose Mourinho: 'Chelsea have proven desire and personality to overcome trouble'

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho insists that his side have already shown that they have the desire and character required to come through a difficult start to the new season.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has suggested that his players have already shown that they are up for the fight after enduring a difficult start to the new Premier League season.

The current champions find themselves in 14th position after seven games, but Mourinho has since insisted that the club's recent 2-0 win over Arsenal proved that they will not go hiding in the face of adversity.

"Sometimes, players are on the pitch and they are hidden," said Mourinho, according to talkSPORT.

"It's the worst thing, when you don't want to be there. You lose two or three matches, the next match you play at home and you don't want to be there.

"I think we showed against Arsenal that we don't have that profile. We came against Arsenal in a worse run than now, after [defeats to] Crystal Palace and Everton. I don't think we'll be in trouble not to have the desire and personality to play."

Chelsea return to Premier League action on Saturday evening when they welcome Southampton to Stamford Bridge.
