Frank Lampard: 'Steven Gerrard would deserve title win'

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard believes that Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard would deserve his first Premier League title win if the Reds can secure the top-flight crown.

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has admitted that Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard deserves to win the Premier League title, but has warned his England teammate that the Blues still have eyes on the crown this year.

Gerrard has yet to the win the top-flight title in his 16-year career with the Reds, but is closing in on the crown and a victory over Chelsea later today would put Brendan Rodgers's side on the brink.

Lampard is quoted as saying by The Mirror: "Stevie will go down as a great player no matter what. He has won pretty much everything there is going. He will be striving to win the league because that is the one little space in his trophy cabinet.

"As a player he deserves that, but there is no sentiment from us. We want to win it. We respect the fact that Stevie is a great player, but I don't think that he lives or dies on whether they win the title this year or not."

Chelsea are five points behind Liverpool with just three games remaining this season.
