Jose Mourinho signs new Chelsea deal

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho signs a new four-year deal with the Premier League champions.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has committed his future to the club by signing a new four-year contract with the Premier League champions.

It was reported earlier in the summer that Mourinho had agreed a deal in principle to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge, but the club have waited until the eve of the new season to make the announcement.

The 52-year-old returned to Stamford Bridge for a second spell in the summer of 2013 and won his third league title with the Blues last season.

"If the club is happy, I am happy. I think this is a normal thing for me to sign a new contract. It is important we have this continuity and I hope we can enjoy more success in the future - for the fans, the players and the club," Mourinho told the club's website.

"I said when I returned here two years ago that I have a special feeling for this club and nothing changed. It is the club closest to my heart and I am very happy to know I will be staying here for a long time."

Mourinho, who has won seven major honours across his two spells with Chelsea, will watch his side start the new season against Swansea City on Saturday.
